I had to be in Maine last week for business and decided to stay where I could get up in the morning and walk on the beach at sunrise. Always up at the crack of dawn anyway, I grabbed a coffee and headed there to have a seat and start my day.
I love the beach at dawn - there's usually nobody else there save for the lone jogger or surfer and the light is gorgeous. As I sat there drinking my weak hotel coffee, I wondered why it is that I don't take the time for such a moment more often. Has my life really become so hectic and stressed that I'm unable to make time for such a simple moment? Note to self: chill out. Life is short.
So, I vowed to my seagull beach buddy that at least once a year I would drive up the Maine coast and find a spot to sit and watch the sun rise over the ocean.
Maybe I'll even splurge, stay two nights, and relax. Wacky idea, I know. As I mulled over the whole "quality of life" concept, I decided to continue my journey and stop off for another favorite pastime - diner breakfast. I'll report back to you on that in the next post because, really, diner dining deserves its own post don't you think?
Until next time,
